Department of Physics - Electronics

The department of Physics was established in 1956 and Electronics in 1986. The department offers undergraduate programmes in Physics and in Electronics. The department also offers a Career Oriented Programme in Microprocessors and Photonics.

The department maintains a departmental library. It has 50 books in Physics and 150 in Electronics. The library has a collection of 3692 books in Physics and 1055 books in Electronics. The library also subscribes to 6 journals. The department is equipped with a computer and has four laboratories.

The department purchased many equipments such as microprocessor kit and their peripherals, laser kit, laptop for melting point simulation, fibre optics, muffle furnace, mechanical stirrer, digital pH meter, hot plate gauss meter, hysteretic loop tracer and 34 books for the Career Oriented Programme. The department has procured a computer and purchased new books.

The department has collaboration for research with the following institutes: PRL, and ISRO. The thrust areas are plasma research, polymer, magnetic particles, colours Science, atmosphere and ozone layer, magnetic properties of materials, remote sensing, and neutron star. the department has 10 international and 14 national publications. 8 textbooks.
