STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE:

A group of staff members have voluntarily taken up responsibility for quality assurance and all round development of the students. At the start of the academic year, they invite students to join what is called Students’ Activities Group. From among those who apply to be a part of the group, around twenty-five students are selected to be in what is called the Core Group. There is another group of around twenty-five that are volunteers for various activities to help this group. The core group is responsible for activities to bring out various talents of the students.

This group of students along with staff members is available for counseling to the aspirants at the time of admissions. Thus the new students come in contact with this group at the time of admissions.
Soon after the admissions, this group conducts an orientation program for two days for the new students. The orientation program gives an opportunity to new students to come to know the seniors in a friendly, helpful atmosphere. This set up channels their energies in the right direction, setting up a ragging-free atmosphere.

Two hours on every Saturday are reserved for “student activities”. There are also annual activities of the College. This group is responsible for organizing the same. The group is also in-charge of raising funds for various activities. They ask for volunteers as and when needed. In June the group begins preparations to select participants for the Youth Festival. Our College has kept up the record of winning highest number of awards at Youth Festival at the Zone and Inter-zone levels. Some of our participants have won at the Inter-University/National level.

The culmination of these activities is in the annual CULFEST, held in December. Intra-college and inter-college competitions are held in various cultural events.

This group organizes these activities. The group itself learns practical lessons in management, organization, group behaviour, planning, finance, fund-raising etc. These lessons equip them to face job-market with confidence.
