Criterion VI – Organisation and Management
Management of the College is very vibrant. Almost all members of the Society are educationists. They are known as “College-men”. They meet regularly twice a month to oversee the functioning of the College. They formulate policies to make the function smooth. Office of the Society is located in the College building. Society provides immediate funding to the College for establishment expenditure if release of the government grant is delayed. This also provides easy access of management to the students. There is informal decentralization of power. Two deans, all H.O.Ds meet regularly. All academic and administrative problems are discussed and proceedings of these meetings are maintained and decisions circulated to the entire faculty. The entire College staff meets twice a year.
All the faculty members and a large number of students are involved in administration through various committees, like the Academic Committee, Examination Committee, Cultural Committee, Discipline Committee, N.S.S. Committee, Jagrat Committee, Women’s Cell, Sports & NCC, Maintenance & Cleanliness Committee, Recreation Committee and Drama Club etc.
Senior students are involved in the counseling of freshers.
No external agency is appointed for managerial improvement, because College gets this guidance from their international peers.
Academic calendar is prepared by the Deans in consultation with the H.O.Ds.
Various welfare schemes are available for the staff. Credit co-operative society of the College gives loan. Loans are also available for marriages, house building etc. Provident fund loan and interest free loan is advanced by the management.
Resource mobilization is effective & economical. Electricity saving device installed with the bell system indicates the economic approach of the management. Internal and external auditing is done as per auditing principles. Proposed budget, balance sheets and audit report is processed and passed at different levels.
Recruitment process for the appointment of faculty is unique and perhaps most scientific, in which management, staff and students are equally involved. Screening at the three different levels is the secret of the most competitive faculty.
Modern technologies are used for communication. Although there is no proper grievance redressal cell, all problems are addressed efficiently and promptly.
There is no formal mechanism for monitoring work-efficiency and academic activities. If organized and well defined mechanism is evolved and implemented, it will add more strength to the already existing professional approach of the management.
