
Department of Sanskrit
The department was established in 1955. The central library has a good collection of book in both Gujarati and in English. It has 1590 books in English and 892 books in Gujarati, a total 2482. The library subscribes to a fortnightly, a half yearly and a yearly journal related to the subject.
The department has organized a spoken Sanskrit class for the students. It also organizes guest lectures every year related to the syllabus. The faculty collaborates with the University School of Languages, Sadguna Arts College, H. K. Arts College, and J.G College of Performing Arts as visiting faculty. Faculty are doing research in the areas such as Vedas, Upanishads, polity (nitisastra), epics, literature, Vedanta darsana, Purana and application in modern times.
The department has ongoing projects and 8 presentations at international conferences and 17 at national conferences and two abstracts. 16 papers were published in national journals and one book.
